When he was hired last summer, Dowell Loggains was tasked with bringing stability to one of the most volatile positions on the Arkansas roster.
The Razorbacks have tried to move eight different players to tight ends over the past two seasons, when their first spot option was former walk-on Blake Kern.
In less than eight months of work, however, Loggains has completely changed perspectives closely through recruiting. It may take a year or two before its impact on the pitch is fully felt, but there is reason for optimism for the future.
Head coach Sam Pittman brought him here when he shuffled his coaching staff after Brad Davis left for LSU. Cody Kennedy, originally hired to replace Jon Cooper as tight end coach, slipped to the offensive line, opening the door for Loggains’ return to Fayetteville.
The longtime NFL assistant and former Arkansas walk-on quarterback has taken off. The Razorbacks already had a commitment from the prospect in the state Dax Courtney, but they were aiming to add a second tight end in the 2022 class.
