Various events scheduled for MLK Day in Selma

Wal Mlk1The Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth, and Reconciliation, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, have teamed up to host various events during the King’s Day weekend.

“The purpose is to honor the life, legacy and also the ‘dream’ of Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior,” said Donovan McGuire.

Events are scheduled in the city until Tuesday, highlighted by the King’s Day Unity Parade Saturday.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. And it starts here at the School of Discovery. Then down Broad Street from Dallas Avenue to Water Avenue. And it ends here at Riverfront Park.

The parade will be followed by the MLK Youth Day.
